About WakaBid

A better way to connect riders and drivers.

WakaBid is a marketplace for rides. A rider says where they are going and what the trip is worth to them; nearby drivers answer with the fare they are willing to work for, and the rider picks between the offers. The price is agreed between the two people making the trip — not set by an algorithm, and never raised because it started to rain.

As a marketplace we earn a commission on completed trips rather than a margin on the fare, so both sides of the trade gain from a trip happening at a price that works for both. We are live now, running the pilot with real riders and drivers, and the app is available on Android today — if you have an Android phone, you can install the app today.
